Here, is all the Competition Info so it is all in one place. Much like your first time experiencing what a dance recital is all about, Competitions can be just as confusing the first time around. Keeping organized is the key to minimize stress, giving you more time to enjoy the experience! Competitions can teach a dancer a lot about working hard to achieve a goal as well as giving a dancer more experience doing what they love - performing!
We now have classes going on Thursdays and Saturdays. This is only temporary to give our Team more time to rehearse and perfect their routines. You can find that schedule here or in your email inbox. The competition schedule was emailed to you on January 12th as well as January 27th.
Costume Rehearsals: We do not get a dress rehearsal for competition. The first time they perform their routines in March will be the first time they perform them EVER on a stage. Add to the fact that they will also be judged that day. We do not want to find out then that there was a problem with a costume piece. That is why we need to fix these things NOW.
Consider the entire months of January and February your daughter's dress rehearsal days. They are currently practicing with the more "high-maintenance" costume pieces in their Thursday classes right now, but Miss Karen needs to see them in the entire costume before she will feel confident putting them on stage. Each competition routine (except for Goody Goody), has a scheduled costume rehearsal. You can find it here as well as in your January 27th email. We encourage all parents to be in attendance at your child's scheduled costume rehearsal(s) to receive further instructions in case a costume needs to be fixed...and so you can get a sneak peek of the routine in it's entirety!
Team Competition Meeting, Thursday March 5th @ 7:00 pm: This meeting is always held the Thursday before our first competition of the season. Here, we will be going over any last-minute details and reminders, as well as answer any questions you may have. This meeting is important for all dancers AND parents to attend because separate information for each will be given out.
"Competition day" Details
Any specific Competition information we have received can be found on the Team Website:
We do not have specific day/time information yet and will not receive it from the competition company until 7-10 days before the competition weekend. From our experience, we can tell you that *very seldom* have we been scheduled to perform on a Friday night...that is typically reserved for solo/duo/trio entries. HOWEVER, we are all a the mercy of the competition company, and if that is when your routine is scheduled, there is no way we can change that. That is why you must block off the entire weekend. You may be lucky and only have your daughter scheduled to do her dances all in one day, but we strongly suggest you don't count on it. It's best to just expect to be there all weekend.
What is a Dance Competition Like?
