Discontinuing a Class
ATTENDANCE
All students are expected to come to class regularly and on time. While the growth of a dancers' skills is a personal achievement, the success of a dance class depends on a team effort from the students, teacher, and parents. Absences can hold back the student as well as the entire class. Regular attendance is expected and excessive absences may result in removal, in part or all, of a recital routine.
-
Students age 10 and older are required to come to class if sick or injured UNLESS they have a fever, are contagious, and/or otherwise instructed by their doctor to stay home. They will be permitted to sit in front of the room and take notes if they can/should not dance. (All Performance Team members, regardless of age must follow this rule for all dance classes)
-
In case of absence or illness, please notify the studio on or before the day and time that the student will not be attending.
-
No refunds or adjustments for absences for any reason (illness, vacation, holidays, etc) - instead, you are welcome to take a make-up class. Speak with our receptionist for your child's make-up schedule.
-
Excessive absenteeism will withdraw a student from recital participation.

STUDIO DROP OFF / PICK UP POLICY
-
Gotta Dance opens 15 minutes before the first scheduled class of the day and closes 15 minutes after the last scheduled class of the day. Our hours are posted here.
-
Do not drop off your child in front of the studio when our doors are locked - we are not responsible for unattended children.
-
Children must be picked up within 15 minutes of the classes end time. If an emergency delays pick up, call the studio immediately to inform our receptionist (201) 794-0001.
-
If your child is attending our last class of the day, please be sure to arrive on time for pick-up. Our receptionist needs to lock up promptly at the end of the night.
-
Any child (regardless of age) picked up more than 15 minutes after their class ends will incur a babysitting fee of $5.00 per minute.
-
Parents are responsible for watching their children at all times before and after their class time. `
-
We would prefer that you do not ask your child to wait outside the studio for pick-up (especially after dark) as we can not be responsible for our students once they have left the confines of our building.

CLASS VISITATION
-
Parents are not permitted in the dance rooms while class is in session. We have a reception area with closed-circut televisions where you may sit and observe class.
-
Visitors are welcome to wait in our reception area while classes are going on. Young children have a limited attention span and are easily distracted. Therefore we do not allow visitors to stand in the hallway while class is in session.
-
Once a year in December or May, we hold a "Parent Observation Day" where we invite family members in to the dance room to observe class and take pictures.
DRESS CODE
-
For safety reasons, dress code is strictly enforced.
-
Absolutely no hats, jeans, jewelry, or baggy clothes
-
Long hair must be secured away from the face.
-
As of now, we allow smart watches to be worn in class HOWEVER, if the watches start to cause a distraction, we will change that decision.

RECITAL
The end of the year performance is an established custom. It is an event which students look forward to with great anticipation. Students duplicate the lifestyle of professional dancers and are given the chance to perform some of what they have learned in class on stage in costume, with lights, audience, and applause.
-
Recital is always in June
-
It is not mandatory for our students to participate in the recital
-
We must be notified by November if you choose not to participate

IF YOU CHOOSE TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR JUNE RECITAL YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO:
-
Purchase a costume and all needed accessories from the studio. A costume deposit will confirm your recital commitment and will be due the last Saturday of November.
-
Attend all assigned rehearsals and recital dates. Excessive absenteeism will withdraw a student from recital participation and no refunds will be given for costumes or tuition.
